More Treats: Maple Pecan Candied Bacon

I think I’m just going to overload you with sweet treats right before the holiday. Then you’ll have no choice but to tune in to the Holiday Sugar Blues Teleclass on January 11th…MUAHAHHAAA.

Here is yet another sweet treat. This would be the perfect thing to bring to a holiday party. It’s part picky (appetizer) part dessert.

I give you:

Maple Pecan Candied Bacon


1 lb bacon (I used uncured with no nitrates or nitrites added)

1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

1/4 cup granulated maple sugar (you could also use palm sugar)

I found this baby at Stop and Shop right before Thanksgiving and couldn’t pass it up. Before I found this, I thought the only place to get actual maple sugar was at the bottom of a gallon bottle of maple syrup…


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F
  2. In your food processor, chop the pecans into a coarse meal.
  3. Mix the pecan meal and maple sugar in a dish and coat the bacon. It’s just like breading fish or chicken: you have to flip it a few times and press it into the meal to make sure it’s coated.
  4. Place the bacon on a wire rack over a baking pan lined with aluminum foil and bacon…I mean bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Let the bacon cool on the rack, and then transfer to a paper towel to soak up some of the grease. Then, chop into bite-sized bits and serve!


This. Stuff. Is. Dangerous.

I could easily have eaten the entire plate.

The sweetness of the maple sugar and the richness of the pecans and bacon make this totally irresistible. Your guests (or hosts) will be awed. It’s crazy good.

I would advise you to make it right before you go to that holiday party…because it you make it to early, you might eat it all.

    1/4 maple sugar – is this a 1/4 cup or 1/4 teaspoon?

      Oh man– I must have been in a sugar daze when I wrote this post! It’s 1/4 CUP maple sugar. Sorry about that! Thanks for asking!
